Spirasi: Befriending Officer (Secondment Cover) Part Time
BEFRIENDING OFFICER (SECONDMENT COVER) PART TIME ?? 2 DAYS/WEEK
CONTRACT

Spirasi is a humanitarian, intercultural NGO which provides holistic
rehabilitation services to survivors of torture and their families who
are seeking international protection or are refugees. We want to
recruit a Befriending Officer who will work with our Befriending
Coordinator to further develop and expand the befriending programme in
line with the current strategy and within the holistic rehabilitative
model in Spirasi.

Befriending is a one-to-one supported relationship between a Spirasi
client and a trained volunteer. By building social and community
relations, befriending helps to rebuild the trust damaged by
interpersonal trauma, supports with the integration process, and helps
to reduce the isolation and loneliness often experienced by refugees
and International Protection Applicants.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Relevant Third level qualification in Social Science, or other
related area
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent ability to work well, individually, and as part of a
team
* Excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking skills and the
ability work on own initiative
* A proven track record of organizing successful events
* Proven admin or assistant experience
* Experience of working with people seeking international protection
and from refugee backgrounds, culturally competent
* Strong proficiency in use of IT and standard software packages
* ?Excellent self-care and awareness of importance of boundaries
* A suitable workspace if working remotely

DESIRABLE:

* Knowledge of Irish health, education, social welfare and legal
systems in relation both to those seeking and having received
protection in the Irish State.
* Excellent ability to represent, to advocate and to network
* Proficiency in a second and/or other languages
* Experience in working in a multidisciplinary health care setting
